Where my hearts are..

February 15, 2013

Home is where the heart is.

I’m sitting in Auckland airport waiting to fly home to my three other hearts – I have just read a beautiful post from Chrissy and it confirms what has been with me all week – Home is where the heart is, and that is where I am heading.

Meantime I need to mention all my friends and family here in New Zealand. It’s a dilemma for me every time I travel here – do I stay or do I go, and mostly I choose to stay where work is, get the work done and head home. I’ve tried visiting in the past and it never feels right, without my family I am no longer whole; I Don’t wish to convey to others how the girls or Chrissy feel – I want to share that with them, together.

There is no right and I hope my family understand. I know we will be back and meantime I try to complete my return as speedily as possible.

It’s been an interesting stop, I arrived Sunday lunchtime, walked around the Mount Manganui in the evening, ran it in the morning, again with a lap around town on Tuesday, climbed it on Wednesday, ran it with a lap around town on Thursday (and an early morning swim) and then ran it and went for an evening swim before catching a plane out of town tonight.

From atop Mt Manganui - 15 minutes later I was swimming down there

That is all such a special privilege, yet all the time I only wanted to be with my family. They are such a gift, as is life, as is the opportunity to run around a beautiful coastline in beautiful weather, and feel a part of many different worlds.

Thankyou to my colleagues for hosting me, for the locals and businesses at Mt Manganui for doing things pretty darn well for what is really a small village on a global scale.

Please don’t think me rude – but I’m headed home – to where my hearts are…
